The Service
We are a multi professional Team based in the heart of Portsmouth who provide services to those with Severe and Enduring Mental Health problems and their Carers.
What is the role?
Working in a mental health team you will be working directly with Carers who support people with Mental Health conditions who are of working age, typically people between16-65.
You will be a member of a team of people with a range of different professional backgrounds. You will be working within Portsmouth City with unpaid carers/relatives, however some of the carers may live outside of the city therefore there will be a need to travel as you tend to see the people in their own homes.
The primary role is to undertake Carer assessments to assist them to continue to care for the service user.
Who is the person?
You need to:
1. Have some knowledge of Mental Health conditions.
2. Have an unqualified care management qualification or social work experience or would be willing to undertake training.
3. Have experience of working with people, particularly those in distress, are distraught or have difficulties.
4. Have good numeracy skills as you will need to put together costings for care packages and prepare financial reports.
5. Have good literacy skills as you need to write care plans and reports.
6. Have good negotiation skills to be able to negotiate care packages for clients.
7. Have good IT skills able to use all Microsoft windows applications.
8. Have good presentation skills as you will be required to present cases to panels.
9. Be able to effectively manage your time to achieve your task in a timely way and to work under pressure.
10. Have a good eye for detail and to produce work to a high level of accuracy.
11. Have good communication and interpersonal skills to be able to engage effectively with service users, colleagues and professionals.
12. Be emotionally resilient to be able to deal with the sensitive nature of the work.
13. Have a clear understanding of confidentiality and Data Protection.
14. Be a team player.
