Who we are
The Design Group is looking for a talented, design-conscious Chartered Landscape Architect/Urban Designer to join our multidisciplinary department. We have an exciting and expanding portfolio of projects to offer including public realm improvements, major master planning exercises, housing estate improvements and large and small school projects.
What is the job?
This job gives you the opportunity to work on real projects at every stage of development from inception through to implementation
You will contribute and provide support to the team leader in the day to day management and operation of the Landscape team, including the assignment of tasks and co-ordination of activities undertaken by other team members. You will also mentor other team members where appropriate in training and development.
You will also be working on master planning exercises and commenting on major planning applications.
You will be meeting with clients to understand their requirements, formulating the brief, preparing drawings and designs, making planning applications, giving presentations to clients, visiting sites, running progress meetings with clients and contractors and handing over projects.
We will offer appropriate support and mentoring aimed at developing your skills and broadening your experience.
Who are we looking for?
You need to:
1. Ideally be a chartered landscape architect with an urban design qualification and a successful track record of project completion
2. Be able to assist the Landscape Team leader in the overall running of team and mentoring junior staff when necessary
3. Have the ability to communicate clearly with clients and community groups and to build good relationship with them
4. Have ability to give presentations to clients and stakeholders and explain technical terms to them
5. Have the ability to communicate with contractors and the design team to keep projects on target
6. Be confident to take control of a project, meeting deadlines and dealing with any problems
7. Have a good understanding of the various legislation involved in the industry, including Planning and CDM Regulations
8. Have excellent graphic and design skills in order to produce good conceptual drawings to help you to sell ideas to clients followed up with an ability to prepare working drawings and specifications
9. Have an excellent working knowledge of CAD and applications such as PhotoShop, Sketch-Up and In-Design.
10.Have a good understanding of the principles of sustainability and their application to Landscape Architecture
11.Have the ability to travel around the city in an economic and efficient way
