The Service
Alexandra Lodge located in Hilsea, is a residential care home for older people and currently has 39 residents. It is part of a wider accommodation project to deliver extra care housing in the city.
What is the role?
You will be responsible for the overall operational management of Alexandra Lodge, ensuring that the services are delivered to published quality standards in compliance with Council procedures and legislation. You will be responsible for the day to day management of a large staff team and have a strong commitment to the care and support of older people ensuring high quality person centred care that meets CQC standards. You will also be involved in the city council extra care project team.
Who is the person?
You will:
1. Have an understanding of the ageing process and be able to implement person centred care.
2. Have experience in a management capacity and have at least an NVQ4 qualification or equivalent.
3. Have a sound knowledge of current relevant legislation.
4. Have the ability to manage a large diverse staff team.
5. Be able to manage the budget within allocated resources.
6. Be able to implement practices which foster positive working relationships and productive networks with all stakeholders and local communities.
7. Have good IT skills in Microsoft office.
8. Be able to implement effective quality assurance and quality monitoring systems to measure success in meeting the aims, objectives and statement of purpose of the home.
9. Be able to assist in managing the strategic direction and development of the service, consulting and working with others to produce proposals and plans as required.
10. Have strategies for enabling staff, service users and other stakeholders to affect the way in which the service is delivered.
11. Be able to manage in a way that supports Portsmouth City Council’s Equal Opportunities policy.
12. Be responsible for all administrative matters relating to the home and maintain appropriate records as required.
13. Have a management approach that encourages innovation, creativity and development.
