Corporate Priority Teams
Created to provide teams of specialists to work across all the directorates,
providing expertise and guidance in areas that impact on the whole
organisation.
Working with these teams presents the challenge of cutting across all levels
and managing multiple projects and expectations.
Community involvement, Empowerment & Development
A small core team who work with a much wider virtual team of staff across the
council on joint projects and priorities.
Community involvement is about giving everyone a voice that matters. It’s a
key element of the Government's drive to improve public services.
They are structured around two key themes, to promote:
• a city where everyone feels they belong, everyone knows how to make
their voice heard and can make a difference.
• a vibrant and sustainable voluntary and community sector.
Customer First
Focused on improving everything we do for our customers. Aims include
helping us to:
• become more effective at communicating with residents and our staff.
• develop and implement a Corporate Communication Strategy.
• tackle low levels of public satisfaction with the council.
• work more corporately.
Acting as advocates for the customer inside the council, we can help to make
sure that people feel well informed and also promote and protect the
reputation of the council.
Projects, Risk Management & Emergency Planning
To improve the delivery of change projects across the council, establishing
risk management policy at all levels and ensuring that the city meets the
requirements of the Civil Contingencies Act for Emergency Planning.
All council Members and staff have a part to play in delivering these goals.
Strategy Unit
Developing and monitoring council and city-wide strategies and advising on
business planning and performance management. We work:
• internally with a Performance Network of staff doing business planning
and performance management in the Directorates.
• externally with Portsmouth’s Local Strategic Partnership, bringing
together the community, voluntary, business and public sectors to
agree how to improve the quality of life in Portsmouth.
We are driving for excellence in delivering what is most important to the
people of Portsmouth, balanced against the expectations of central
government in how we perform as an authority.
